What kind of photographer are you?
I take a lifestyle and candid approach to my photography looking for beautiful moments that artistically express who you are as a person. I pour my heart into each session giving each person a personalized experience. I allow each person to truly be themselves. I enjoy helping them to see the beauty in themselves that the rest of the world sees, but that we as humans often have trouble finding in ourselves. I create pieces of art that you will have for generations.

Where will my session be held?
Together we will decide the best location for your session. We want to select a location that is best for your family. Some families like to hold their sessions outside. The best time of day for outdoor photography is either early morning as the sun is rising or in the evening just before sunset. Taking pictures during this time provides a beautiful golden light that will bring warmth the pictures. Families with young kids, tell me that they usually have their children take a late nap or have down time before our session. I have several locations I love to take pictures, but I am always open to new locations as well. Other families feel more comfortable taking pictures in their home environment, because it is more intimate and personal.
How long will my session be?
Sessions with my families usually last no more than an hour. This gives plenty of time to capture a diverse collection of captured moments and give time for breaks for wiggles, giggles and fun. For senior pictures, because there is a bit more time needed for changes in clothing and travel to new locations they can take several hours. For weddings and other special occasions the session time will be much longer.
What will my session be like?
At your photo shoot, we will work together to tell your story. I will direct you and your family throughout or photography shoot to elicited true emotions and connection with each other. I realize that for some, having their photos taken can be stressful and even overwhelming. I like to take my time with these individuals to help them to relax and enjoy this experience. I am not looking for stiff formal photographs where the family is looking directly at the camera. Instead, I want my clients to feel comfortable and to have fun while creating art that tells the story about who you are as a family and the connections you have with each other!
Children are not fond of being told to pose and smile, and to be honest I do not blame them. It is very uncomfortable. Letting your children relax and try to capture them in the moment is a great way to capture their true personality. Please do not worry if your child is active, playing or exploring this is natural and desirable. We will capture those family shot by directing you to be with your child or hold your child and we can go from there. We will take breaks so please make sure you pack some non-messy snacks and water for yourself and your children. During breaks there are still wonderful moments to be captured and you will often find me still shooting during these times.
I encourage you to make a day of your photography experience by going out to dinner and treating yourselves. I think it is so important and encouraging to have a positive experience for you and your family. Not only will you have beautiful art to help you remember these moments, but you will also have a wonderful experience that create special memories and traditions that last a lifetime.
Where will my newborn session be held?
Having an addition to your family is an exciting time! There is so much joy an warmth that comes from the birth of your baby. I get so excited about capturing the love and connection as a family. Newborn sessions will be held at your home or in your hospital room. As a nurse my first priority is the safety of your family, the same holds true as your photographer. Baby’s immune system are so fragile within the first several weeks of life. It is our priority that we do not expose your baby to any unnecessary germs. Capturing moments with your baby in your home or hospital room also provides a very intimate and personal appearance to your photos.
What should I wear?
It is less important what you decide to wear and more important how what you are wearing makes you feel. Comfort is key! Choosing clothes that are comfortable for you and your family is very important. For family sessions, start with yourself mom! Pick out and outfit that makes your feel comfortable while reflecting your personal style and something you feel beautiful in. Once you have your outfit picked out, coordinate the colors in the clothes of your family members with that outfit. Make sure that each family member is wearing something they are personally comfortable in. If you or your children are not comfortable your photos will show it.
How far out are you booked?
I schedule photography sessions 6 – 8 weeks in advance, with the exception of newborn hospital photography sessions. With these sessions, I try to leave special opening in my schedule to be able to capture these moments. If you want to schedule a newborn hospital session please contact me as soon as possible so we can talk about your specific needs. And I will do my best to accommodate this request.
Will I get the digital photos from my session?
I have a few options of how to receive your final photos. You can choose from either digital or printed packages. You can add to these packages with A la carte or create your own to make sure you get exactly what you are wanting.
Will I get printing rights?
Yes, of course! You will have printing rights and I have done some leg work to help you with making decisions on where you get your prints. I have learned that printing results vary based on the printer that you choose, because of printing settings, ink, and paper choices. Because of these variations I cannot guarantee print quality.
